Choosing a Shaving Blade

Yikes, you just realized that your dog, or your client’s dog is matted beyond any reasonable grooming process and needs a shave-down! Now, before we go all crazy and start snapping on blades willy-nilly onto our A5 compatible clipper, all of us groomers have a thought process to go through to make sure that we are making the right decision for the pet (within the sphere of what is possible and humane). Let us take you through it!

And let us just mention that the only dogs that are candidates for shaves are a certain small percentage of breeds who have undetermined or very long hair that can have matting (like Poodles and Doodles). Shaving NEVER applies to thick double-coated breeds, unless under the direction of a veterinarian. Thanks, as always, for watching and your support.
